Princeton University Export Price Memorandum
M6 - GM Micro-Challenge: Export PriceYour manager’s memo to you is below. In it your manager is giving you tasks to address regarding international trade. You are not expected to be an expert, just willing and able to use the resources available to develop an accurate response.Your memo should start with an introduction that reminds the manager what s/he requested you to do. Next, overview the information your manager can expect to find in your memo. After that, respond to each topic you were requested to address in sequence. For each topic, your response should clearly state the question(s) you understood you were to address. Then give a written response to the question that summarizes the source information. Your written response should then be supported with (1) an image that shows the specific source information you used, and (2) a weblink to that source in case your manager wants to seek out additional information. Note: An image does not replace your written response, it only shows the source information used. Finally, you may choose to provide a conclusion to your memo.Images may be screen clipped to include them. That image should show the name of YOUR COUNTRY/YOUR STATE.To: YouFrom: Your ManagerDate: Sept 12, 2021Subject: Export PriceNow that shipping details have been considered, clients need some additional information to estimate landed cost for export pricing purposes. They have contacted your company for help.Consider each subject, examine sources, and provide a brief response. Screen clip and include an image of your source material. That image should show the name of YOUR COUNTRY/YOUR STATE and the exact information that supports your response. Columbia Southern University Safety Engineer Paper
Immediately following the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board’s (CSB) published investigation report of the chemical spill into the Charleston, West Virginia, public water supply, you have been contracted as a safety engineer consultant to evaluate the investigation report from a system safety engineering perspective. As a macro-level evaluation of the past event, you have been asked to help the CSB understand what hazards may have been prevented if the bulk chemical tank owners had utilized a safety management system (SMS) with system safety engineering inherent in the SMS design. You will present a complete case study of just the six numbered statements within the “Technical Analysis” section on page 28 of the report.
Make your first level 1 heading “Summary of the Accident Report.” Summarize the “1.0 Executive Summary: Incident Description,” found on page 1 of the CSB report.
Make your second level 1 heading “What-If Analysis/Safety Checklist.” Using any or all of the Appendices A, B, and C, include the what-if analysis/safety checklist technique described in the Unit IV Lesson to evaluate the six paragraph statements on page 28 of the “Technical Analysis” section of the report. Simply number each posed question that you form. You must have at least 20 posed questions. If you can develop more than 20, please do so. This will only enhance the quality of the process safety analysis.
Make your third level 1 heading “Potential Controls.” Being careful to follow the hierarchy of controls described in the unit lesson, propose a control for each of the 20 identified hazards that you recognized from each posed question. Attempt to cite as many controls as possible, even using textbooks from previous safety or environmental classes that you may have already taken from CSU.
Be sure to write all questions (“What-If” Analysis/Safety Checklist) and statements (Potential Controls) with proper grammar and punctuation.
REQUIREMENTS FROM PROFESSOR
Below is the requirements for the Unit IV assignment (taken from the course syllabus). I have "marked-up" the requirements. I use Blue to highlight key areas and Green for additional comments.
As a macro-level evaluation of the past event (macro-level = more than a general overview, but not buried in the details), you have been asked to help the CSB understand what hazards may have been prevented if the bulk chemical tank owners had utilized a safety management system (SMS) with system safety engineering inherent in the SMS design. You will present a complete case study of just the six numbered statements within the “Technical Analysis” section on page 28 of the report. (While you only need to address the six statement in the Technical Analysis section you do need to review the whole investigation report.)
Access the CSB website and download the Chemical Spill Contaminates Public Water Supply in Charleston, West Virginia final report using the instructions from the unit lesson in the study guide, or click here (http://www.csb.gov/assets/1/19/Freedom_Industries_Report.pdf). (Caution: If you print this out you get 134 pages,)
Using an APA style paper format (title page, abstract page, body with level 1 headings for each section, and a references page), submit a three-page case study. (I accept long paper, but if you get to page 7 consider stopping. -- write concisely.) The title and reference page will not count toward the page count requirement. Click here for an example of an APA style paper (https://online.columbiasouthern.edu/CSU_Content/courses/Emergency_Services/MOS/MOS6625/17F/APAExamplePaper.pdf).
1. Make your first level 1 heading “Summary of the Accident Report.” Summarize the “1.0 Executive Summary: Incident Description,” found on page 1 of the CSB report. (It is difficult to summarize a summary, but try not to plagiarize.)
2. (I much prefer seeing 20 good questions than 30 poor ones.)
******Example What-if Analysis/Safety Checklist 1. What if one employee working in isolation is not adequate human-sensory monitoring for this process? 2. What if the monitoring cameras do not detect motion and consequently do not activate because they only activate with detected motion? 3. What if motion activity occurs in locations not monitored by cameras, given the current location of cameras? 4. What if the power supply is disrupted to the monitoring cameras? 5. What if the facility’s bulk tank commodity level indicators do not operate as intended? 6. What if the facility’s bulk tanks experience a thermal reaction? 7. What if the tank trailer experiences a thermal reaction? 8. What if the facility’s commodity transfer pumps experience a thermal reaction? 9. What if the facility’s bulk tanks experience a chemical reaction? 10. What if the tank trailer experiences a chemical reaction? 11. What if the facility’s commodity transfer pumps experience a chemical reaction? 12. What if the tank trailer commodity level indicators do not operate as intended? 13. What if the power supply is disrupted to the data-logging computers? 14. What if the data-logging computers do not operate as intended? 15. What if the pump motor is activated by accident? 16. What if the discharge pressure is not within the transfer system’s engineered tolerances? 17. What if the nitrous oxide temperature is not within the transfer system’s engineered tolerances? 18. What if the emergency relief valves on the facility’s bulk tanks fail? 19. What if the commodity transfer pump activates? 20. What if the control monitoring equipment is not within calibration? *******
(NOTE: The assignment gives you the three APA first level headers to organize your paper -- Use Them. BUT add a fourth heading: Conclusion. You cannot just leave the paper without a proper conclusion.)
5. Be sure to write all questions (“What-If” Analysis/Safety Checklist) and statements (Potential Controls) with proper grammar and punctuation. Information about accessing the grading rubric for this assignment is provided below.
