Lindsey Drager is aa professor that lectures on creative writing at the College of
Charleston. Additionally, Drager is an author. One of the resent novels that she has written is The
Sorrow Proper. The Sorrow Proper is a complete novel-length investigation of the fretfulness
that accompanies change. In the novel, aging librarians group up to reach a conclusion on
whether to flee or fight the beginning of electronic publication and the end of print. Additionally,
the parents of a young girl struggle with their role in the loss of their young girl that died in front
of the library. The novel is further anchored by transpose stories of a deaf mathematician and her
photographer both mourning the other’s death. Therefore, the novel tries to exemplify how
humans cope with social progress.
In the book, Sorrow Proper, Lindsey Drager brings about an element of love and loss
