Effect of architecture on a smell
Architectural designs affect the human sense of smell. Different architectural designs have a
different sense of smell. For instance schools, bakeries, churches, hospitals have a different
smell. This is meant to help in differentiating the space you are and know what to do and when.
The art of scent 1889-2012 exhibited the scent of various perfumes starting from the Victorianera Jicky to the smoky metallic compelling by contemporary perfumer Daniela Andrier. It
concentrated on a white wall to figure out how the environment of that area could have a holistic
display but look empty. Principal Elizabeth Diller and Chandler Burr regarded it as how to make
nothing but look beautiful.
Walls only found in trade shows were dispensed by a hidden dry version of each of the perfumes.
They set twelve identical dimples in the walls at different parts. The area had space for one
visitor and gave a strong scent in the area. The smell displayed by the walls gave the area a high
spec of technology from the walls. Each of the perfumes displayed its version which was
attributed by the perfumer. These architecture works affect the smell of the walls by giving them
different scents. Each visitor in every space in the walls experienced a different scent from the
other.
The different scents from the walls show the effect architecture has on a smell. The spaces the
different perfumes were placed on the walls to change the smell they emit. Tests were done in a
salon on a table containing the same perfumes in liquid form show different results. The visitors
dipped the blotters in the perfume, smell the blotters and record their results on a projected wall.
Each visitor gave a different result. This helped to show the criticism of scent. Diller tried to
figure this as audio but considered it to bring distraction in attributing the sense of the smell.

Effect of architecture on touch
The architecture designs show the type of structure to be constructed. It shows the number of
people it will accommodate, safety and ambition to support the people freely when they are
doing their activities. Every person living within the structure should carry out his or her
activities freely and there is some space of expansion. Other areas such as school design should
have areas where the children can get special attention for the ones that have disabilities and
separate them in their ages or kind of impairment. The ability of the architecture to support a
certain number of people of different ages or engaged in different activities show the touch of the
building work.
For instance, Alan Dunlop won the contract to design Hazelwood in the south of Glasgow.
Hazelwood is a state school for teaching children with different impairments and life skills to
children. It was designed on a parkland set in a clearly defined neighborhood and conservative
area. The school caters for 54 children of different age with multiple disabilities. The children
have an actual visual impairment, hearing impairment, mobility or cognitive impairm...
