Perception is the ability to understand, interpret, see or hear something through your
senses while reality is an existence of things or ideas. Therefore, “Perception is the only reality”
since employees perceive what they believe and that is as a result of what they see, think or hear.
When motivating and leading employees, you should present yourself in an impression that the
subordinates view you as a professional, skilled, trustworthy and respectable leader. The reason
being, employees, judge according to personality, appearance, and capability. Any individual can
take charge of their perception of reality.
The statement “perception is the only reality,” can affect a leader either positively or
negatively while trying to motivate their staff (Jackson, 2011). A leader who is engaged,
