How are cognition and emotion involved in family processes?

Study has shown that both cognition and emotion have express connection to family processes. These two aspects are acknowledged as the intermediaries of the relationship between the parental conflicts and the children modification to that environment. Children exposure to parental conflicts causes threat to them. Their emotional reaction and triangulation towards the parent’s quarrel.

Children who are exposed to an environment with frequent parent disagreement they develop emotion reaction which makes them feel as if they are the cause of the problem. These children may develop as a self-blame attributes and emotional distress. Therefore, these two mediators are independent in the effect they cause to the family system and children are at the losing end. Since children are young and vulnerable, disagreeing parents use children to hurt each other which render the children as the victims.
