For this discussion board, identify a complicated problem you have encountered personally
or have heard about.
Explain the problem's context briefly.
After talking with a friend, I realized that many communities in Africa are being faced with
food shortage crisis. For instance, various parts of Kenya have experienced a prolonged drought
that has aggravated the crisis of food shortage in the country. Reports indicate that several death
have been reported which are all linked to drought. Communities have lost livestock, and
farming activities have been put to a stand-still. Although the World Food Program and Red
Cross have intervened to provide aid to the communities, more needs to be done to improve the
current status. With a population of more than 44 million, 80% of whom live in rural areas and
depend on seasonal rainfall for farming, it is important for the country to invent sustainable
methods to prevent a repeat of the same in the coming years (Alinovi et al. 2010).
