Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Altruism implies to doing good things in the aim of helping others. Hobbes believes that people do not do good things in the name of helping someelse, but human beings does good things because it brings joy to them, therefore, through his believe, altruism does not exist.

Hobbes in his beliefs, he holds that no one has the intensions of helping others, but they just enjoy doing good things. This theory may be illogical, because if one enjoys doing good things, therefore, he or she feels good when lending a hand to others.

Hobbes gives an example of an actor donating money to homeless as a source of happiness to him, and he argues that this is not altruism; it is just a completion of a good deed to gain joy. But this example contracts his believes, since good people do good things to others so as to help them, when the actor gives money to homeless they will built a house and this amounts to helping them. Therefore, altruism really exists in the society.
