Uber is an American transport network company which was founded by Garret Camp and
Travis Kalanick in 2009 to ease transport among those who couldn’t access public transport or
didn’t have their vehicles. However, it was until 2011 that the company changed its name from
Ubercab to Uber (Metcalf, 2015). In 2012, the company launched Uber x which is a cheaper
option for average consumers. In 2014, Uber also launched Uberpool which provides carpooling
services. Uber is currently headquartered in San Francisco, California and has over 100 million
users across the world. The company has significantly grown in the last decade and its success
can be majorly attributed to the advances in technology around the world and also the
improvement in communication.
Uber allows consumers to access rides from their phones or computers through a
technology platform. It not only offers transport services to individuals but also offers food
