Mosquitos are free-living vectors, interacting with the host only briefly during a bite, whereas ticks are sessile vectors, remaining on an individual host potentially for the majority of their lives. Dobson stated that the abundance of vectors like mosquitos is likely to be independent of host abundance, whereas the abundance of vectors like ticks is likely to increase with host abundance. Why might this pattern arise?
Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
For the mosquito to survive they only depend with the host at the times of bites but other times its on solely independent of the host while the ticks must solely depend with the host all their lives since they stay within the host for their survival .Without the host the tick cant survive at all but for the mosquitoes can survive.
