Similar triangles have the same ratio of sides. The base of each triangle are 20 and 8 respectively.

The ratio is 20/8 which is 5/2. Set this ratio equal to the ratio of the other sides to solve.

5/2=(x+10)/x Now cross multiply. Multiply the numerator from one side with the denominator from the other side of the equation.

5(x)=(x+10)2 Distribute the 2.

5x=2x+20 Subtract 2x from each side.

3x=20 Divide both sides by 3.

x=20/3=6.67

The answer is D.
