The ratio of sides in the small triangle is 4/6 which reduces to 2/3.

The larger triangle has sides of 4+2=6 and 6+x.

Set the ratios equal to one another.

2/3=6/(6+x) Cross multiply.

2(6+x)=3*6

12+2x=18 Subtract 12 from both sides.

2x=6

x=3. Answer is C.
