THE SUPERIORITY OF JESUS CHRIST
Introduction
Superiority is defined as the state of being greater than something or someone. It can
further be said to be a state of being superior. Jesus Christ born of Mary and Joseph through the
Holy Spirit is the son of God. In the book of Hebrews, Jesus Christ superiority and his
preeminence are clearly brought out. He is considered to be everything and everyone else comes
under. The superiority of Jesus Christ can be broken down into the following;
The pre-eminence of Jesus Christ
Jesus being the son of God makes him part of the Trinity which is the three parts of what
God consisting of God the father, the son and the holy spirit, with each having a specific function
to what God is. Jesus put on humanity that Christians put on divinity. Christians were made sons
of God through Jesus Christ as he is the son of God. He came and made it clear that the Jewish
Christians were no longer obliged to be under the laws of Moses. He made then understands that
they didn't need the laws anymore as by them believing him was sufficient.
This was an encouragement to the Jews to know that the new covenant that Jesus Christ
is better than the old. Jesus Christ removed the veil and not only brought an understanding of the
old covenant but further gives a better explanation.
He remains to be unique as contrary to the human expectation he was born in poverty and
was brought up in obscurity. He didn't have wealth or influence but was filled with God's
wisdom that led him through his ministry on earth. His superiority was felt at a young age as he
