Hello!

This is a quadratic equation for x. Its discriminant D = (sqrt(2)^2 - 4) = -2. It is negative, so there are NO real solutions.

If you want complex solutions, no problem. sqrt(D) = i*sqrt(2),

x1,2 = (sqrt(2) +/- i*sqrt(2))/2 = [sqrt(2)/2] * (1 +/- i).

(sqrt is for square root)

Please ask if something is unclear.
