Dr. Baker needs 50 cc of 1/4% Hypaque to perform a cholangiogram.  You have a vial of 1/2%  available.  How much 1/2% Hypaque and how much NaCl do you need to make up the requested solution?

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

C1V1=C2V2 where C is concentration and V volume

V1= volume of 1/2% solution needed to be taken

V2=(volume of solvent +solution) total volume needed(1/4% )=50cc so,

1.2/100*V1=1.4/100*50cc

V1=25mL of 1/2% solution should be taken

So 25cc of 1/2% solution is needed and add solvent(NaCl) to make up to 50cc(1/4%)

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
