Description
Read the article “A War Against Boys?” by Michael Kimmel on pages 447-452 in your textbook. When you’re done:
- Write a 5-7 sentence summary of the entire article. Make sure to include the author’s thesis and his main points. Include an APA style in-text citation at the end of your summary. (8 points)
- Write a short paraphrase of paragraph 11 on page 449 (the one that begins “Gender stereotyping hurts both boys and girls”). In a paraphrase, you closely rewrite a short passage in your own words. The paraphrase should be shorter than the original passage, but in this case, should still be roughly 3-4 sentences long. Include an APA style in-text citation at the end of your summary. (6 points)
- Choose a sentence from the article, and quote it. Somehow attach the quote to your own writing, even if it just means including a signal phrase like, “According to Kimmel,” before the quotation. Make sure to include an APA style in-text citation that includes a page number. (6 points)
If you choose to construct your response in a Word document, copy and paste your response into the text field that displays after you click the “Add submission” button below (use the “Paste from Word” icon in the text entry formatting toolbar). You could also simply type your response in the text field. All direct quotations and other sources used in your responses must be credited using APA Style®. Submit the assignment before 11:55 pm EST on Friday of this week.
