INFLUENCE OF POVERTY ON CHILDREN’S EDUCATION
It is difficult for any sector to thrive in a poverty-stricken environment. The most affected
population by poverty are children. As the children grow up, they become unable to pursue their
dreams due to the constraints of being poor. The impact often begins with their education and
anything that cripples the process of education limits the ability of an individual as well as the
community to prosper economically (Wang et al, 2016). This is because lack of education usually
has lasting impacts that follow the child into adulthood.
El Salvador is an excellent example of how poverty is capable of crippling education hence
the economic growth of the community. Despite being the most industrialized country in the region
of Central America, statistics show that a good percentage of the population is poor because of
natural catastrophes and civil wars. Due to this poverty conditions, the academic performance of
El Salvadorian children is always disadvantaged forcing them to leave school. To salvage such
