Write a 4-5 page paper in which you create a plan for a low-cost automated inventory system in which you:

  • Describe all the necessary equipment.
  • Explain the costs involved in the creation of the system.
  • Describe the ongoing maintenance that will be required.

Inventory Management System
Introduction
The inventory controls concept focuses on the movement of goods and materials as well
as accountabilities that accompany such movements. The purpose of having in place inventory
management is to achieve interruption free production processes as well as sales and improved
customer services It is no doubt that manual order tracking is the least effective way of managing
inventory. A good example that explains this is the use of EXCEL in tracking sales and making
new orders. Excel is slow and prone to mistakes such as unintended deletion or insertions. Also,
virus and worms can easily destroy the files resulting in the worst of all tragedies. Pen and paper
to comment the least about have myriads of limitations such as human errors, malicious
manipulations and many more. With larger companies, the need for automated inventory
management systems is even greater due to the extent of controls that are always necessitated.
Using the case of my sister’s inventory situation, this paper seeks to address how considerably
small businesses with less little budgets can have their inventory systems automated.
Equipment description
There are a number of equipment that my sister must avail for her store to have an
inventory system. Other than the surveillance camera, the store will need certain hardware and
software equipment for implementation of the necessary infrastructure for the inventory system.
