Introduction
Being a nurse is a unique and special profession. Throughout the career of a nurse, one
experiences some challenging moments such as seeing people in the worst days of their
lives. In many most instances, one needs patience, attention to detail, resilience and some
sense of humor. Nursing can be one of the most rewarding careers as there are drama and
exciting moments as one helps others. I must admit that nursing is a true calling but there
are times getting a job can be such a hard task in one’s career, and it all starts with
passing nursing interviews. This paper will highlight questions that I might expect in a
nursing interview. There will be a discussion on ways I can prepare for an interview to
promote a positive impression which includes wear and materials I would carry for the
interview.

Being a nurse is such a unique career, and the questions one will be asked are just unique.
Just like any other interview, one might expect to be asked some common questions such
as “Tell me about yourself” but there are questions that one may be asked that are very
specific to nursing and it is best one knows how to answer them properly. It is fair to say
that in an interview one may not be asked many questions, but one should be prepared to
answer questions the interviewer may ask. In many cases, such questions are designed to
assess a nurse’s ability to think in different situations (Gonzalo, Ahluwalia, Hamilton,
Wolf, Wolpaw & Thompson, 2018).
