what is the slope of a line that is perpendicular to the line y = 1/5x + 7

for any line that will be perpendicular to the line y = 1/5x + 7;

lets assume the slope of the perpendicular line is m

the product of the slopes of the two lines must be equal to - 1 therefore;


Then ; 1/5X x m = - 1

therefore m = -1 x 5/1 = -5

The slope of the perpendicular line is - 5
