a number raised to the third power is 100 greater than when raised to the second power

X^3=x^2+100

x^3-x^2-100=0

(x+4)(x^2-25)

(x+4)(x-5)(x+5)

x+4=0 so x=-4

x-5=0 so x=5

x+5=0 so x=-5 

Test all 3 answers in original equation 

-4^3=-4^2-100

-64=16+100

-64=116 (nope)

5^3=5^2+100

125=25+100

125=125 (correct) 


ANSWER IS 5! 5 to the third is 100 more than 5 squared
