Subjectivity comprises one of the most significant issues in journalism with concerns
that distinguish news and opinions continuously increases the difficulty to make the
distinction. The sports reporting and sections in written pages comprise the most hit area that
has more opinions and speculation than the other areas. Technology and commercialization
have contributed to the increasing complexity in the journalism front. The continued growth
of commercialization has contributed to journalists expanding their use of new technology in
their speed of producing news. Most reporters in journalism consider data as the essential
thing in their line of work and would, therefore, engage in data-driven journalism (Baack,
2011). The storytelling aspect that exists in journalism contributes to the consideration of the
final product as more than data visualization but rather inclusive of contextualization and
highlighting of the existing essential aspects. Different reporters have different means and
styles of reporting their news coverage and varies depending on what they are reporting. This
paper presents the reporting styles of Keith Olbermann and Erin Andrews as well as how they
affect their reporting of the event they are covering.
Olbermann began his journalism career at CNN aged twenty-two with most people
seeing him as smart and offbeat as well as possessing a broad range of knowledge. His style
developed long in his youth with most regarding him as somewhat difficult (Kelefa, 2013).
Olbermann's style was different from the others and stood out from the start and became
famous with his drolly tallying of the number of times athletes used the word "Y'know" when
interviewed. People's perception of him as difficult was evident in his argument with one of
