In the book of Enrique’s Journey by Sonia Nazario, the author is mainly giving his
perspective and views of the experiences of children abandoned by their mothers at a tender age.
Mainly the author demonstrated how Lourdes as a poor mother that had to raise son and sister.
Similarly, she tried all means to feed the family daily. For instance, the book quoted what she did
for a living by stating, “Lourdes, twenty-four, scrubs other people’s laundry in a muddy river.
She goes door to door, selling tortillas, used clothes, and plantains” (Nazario, 4). However,
