For the final assignment, you will create your own research study using the methods taught over the course of the semester. There will be several steps to completing the final, so please make sure to complete each portion of the exam. You should complete this assignment in Microsoft Word and upload it as one, single document. For an example of how to compile all required information for your final exam, please review the Final Example (please note - this example is NOT in APA format. It is part of your exam to ensure your final submission is correctly formatted in APA style). **For the best possible grade, make sure to provide complete and detailed responses. The goal of this assignment is to demonstrate you understand and can apply key research method concepts. The more detail and explanation you provide, the more clearly you can demonstrate this! This is especially important in Steps 46. You should always provide explanation and description beyond just identification of major course concepts.** **Do NOT use direct quotations under any circumstances. Everything in this assignment should be your own, original words.** STEP 1. Cover Page in APA Format The first page of your assignment should be a cover page in appropriate APA format. Please use your manual to ensure you complete your cover page appropriately. STEP 2. Select a Research Question Below, I provide four possible research questions. Select one, which will form the basis of your final assignment. 1) Does cognitive behavioral treatment reduce recidivism? *note: cognitive behavioral treatment is a form of rehabilitation/treatment programming that can be provided to individuals while in prison or on community supervision (e.g., probation/parole) 2) What is the relationship between gun control laws and homicide rates? 3) What is the impact of close-circuit television (CCTV) on crime? 4) What are police officer perceptions of body-worn cameras? STEP 3. Identify THREE empirical articles For this step, you must use effective search strategies to identify three empirical journal articles that are related to the research question you selected. Please note, you must identify THREE articles and they MUST be academic, empirical journal articles that have explored the topic related to your research question. For example, if your research question was "What is the relationship between gender and crime?" you should identify three research studies that have previous explored the relationship between gender and crime. To complete this step, you should prepare a reference list, in APA format, containing your three selected journal articles. STEP 4. Select a Method In this section, you must design a methods section. This will be where you will apply everything you have learned in this class. For this section you should answer the following questions: 1) What method would you use to answer your research question? (e.g., think survey, observations, interviews, experiment, quasi-experiment, time-series design - you WILL need to go back to your notes/lectures) 2) How would you implement this method to answer your research question? (be specific - for example, if you say you will conduct a survey, provide some example survey questions). STEP 5. Select a Sampling Strategy Who would participate in your study/who would make up your sample? What sampling strategy would you use to generate your sample? Would your sample be considered a protected population by the Institutional Review Board? STEP 6. Validity and Reliability How could you ensure your research study produced valid and reliable data? Technical Guidelines ●12 point, Times New Roman font, Normal text spacing ●Double space your assignment and use 1 inch margins ● For all sections of your assignment, including the cover page and reference page, you should use APA style—see the American Psychological Association Publication Manual (6th Edition, 2010). ● Please cite all material appropriately and review the University Policy on Plagiarism. APA COVER PAGE **you will need to use your APA manual to identify the correct information to include on your cover page, as well as the correct formatting** Research Question Simply re-state word-for-word the research question you selected here. Do not include any other additional text. Empirical Articles Simply provide three references, formatted according to APA format here. Make sure to pay attention now only to the reference content requirements, but also the way in which they should be formatted and organized on the page. You will need to use your APA manual to complete this section successfully. The reference list does not need to go on its own page. Method In this section, you can respond to each question in a numbered list. For example: 1) Write your response to question #1 (what method would you use to answer your research question?) in complete sentences. 2) Write your response to question #2 in complete sentences. Sampling Describe, as detailed as possible, your sampling strategy. Be sure to answer all three questions posed in the final exam prompt. Validity and Reliability Answer the question in complete sentences.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GUN CONTROL LAW AND HOMICIDE

Gun control laws are the regulation and rules that govern the manufacturing process,
sales and transfer from one person to another, possession use and modification of the firearms
by the member of the public. While homicide is the act of taking the life of another person,
ownership of gun by the civilians need to be subject to specific restriction to ensure that the
firearms are with responsible people (Spitzer, 2009). This essay discusses in details the
relationship between the gun control law and the homicides rates in human being.
A review done by the united nation in the year 1998 indicates that the cases of
homicides reduced gradually after the introduction of the gun control law by the government.
The act of government ensuring that guns do not fall in the hands of criminals and disarming
criminals plays a vital role in reducing the numbers of reported cases of homicides. Public
disarmament is by governments purchasing banned weapons from the civic owners (Spitzer,
2009). Age restriction by the gun control laws on the possession of guns ensures that only
adults who can make a clear decision on the usage of a firearm, unlike children who are capable
of using the weapons in an immoral approach.
When the gun control laws fail to regulate the number and possession of the gun by
unauthorised people the cases of homicide increases in society. It is evident that availability
and ownership of gun across high-incomes countries increase the risk factors of homicide
cases. Research by the Harvard injury control canter points out that if the society owns a firearm
in large numbers, the instances of people taking a life of other people will increase in large
quantities (Malcolm, 2009). Homicides happen because the nation views guns as superior and
always available for use by the evil people in the community.as compared to other kinds of
weapons. Possession of firearms by weak and unskilled assaulters possess a significant threat
to the civilians.

Failure to regulate the rate of gun manufacturing in a country will result in more
reported cases of homicides especially in the high-income countries like the United States of
America. There are no available data records on the number of guns distributed to the civilians,
which makes it hard for the government to trace or even to monitor the usage of these firearms
(Malcolm, 2009). There are high cases that the government bodies that deals with the
manufacturing and licensing of the guns are responsible for the increased number of local
homicide cases experiences in our society.
Regulation of Gun control law can also increase the rate of homicides incidents when
the control units impose so many restrictions on the acquisition of gun by the civilians the more
the emergence of the black markets (Brookman, Maguire, & Maguire, 2017). Black markets
manufactures and sales firearms to the public with no regulation this leads to increased
incidence of weapons landing in the wrong hands. Difficulties in tracking and monitoring the
uses of weapons are the primary issue associated with the black markets manufacturing and
selling guns to the civilians. Gun control laws and regulation lead to both reduction and
increasing cases of homicides; however positive changes outweighs negatives impacts and
therefore it very relevant government to introduce and put more emphasis on these laws (Lott,
2003). Gun laws will play an essential role in organising the occurrences of homicides cases in
society. Disarming the public and offering public education to people are the possible ways to
reduce the high instances of homicides in our community.
The following are academic Empirical journal articles related to the relationship
between gun control law and homicide cases research question. Aggression and Violent
behaviour represents empirical research that investigates homicides victimisation caused by
gun availability. Federal reports done in the United States Americas states that the rate of a
reported case of homicides cases is high in the urban areas as compared those in rural areas
