It serves different purpose functions, right from the students to the administration. The most important purpose is that, it makes it easy for the Marymount university community to get information about events and organizations that are in place. The availability of the top navigation bar in the platform opens way for the processes. The second benefit that the community reaps from the OrgSync is the ability to receive earlier information concerning all the upcoming activities within the campus. Therefore, it helps them to make earlier preparations, avoiding the lastminute rush and collision of events. Also, the platform provides the community with an opportunity to receive updates concerning all the featured events in the campus environs. The events could either be the ones funded by the student organizations or those supported by various university departments. Additionally, it provides the Marymount university community with the advantage of being their own bosses. In other words, it allows them choose organizations that suite them most and join them at their own pleasure. In conjunction with that, the members are granted golden opportunities of keeping track of their membership. Lastly, members are contracted the chance to update their primary details, check the depth of their interaction and communication with registered colleagues. For that reason, the report will consider testing several features available in the platform. The core reason for that is to try to establish the eligibility and functionality of the platform. To begin with, the search engine will be a consideration for testing due to its critical functionality among the members. The top navigation bar, the right-side bar, a tool called My Memberships and the tools under the Profile name will also be considered for testing. 4 The report will have a simple and concise structure that will be easy for other users to understand. First, the understanding of a test case will be generated, citing all the important information that is needed. Secondly, the report will consider describing the environment in which the various tests will be carried out. The environmental guidelines will be succeeded by the definition and explanation of the different types of software testing that have since existed. Next, it will provide a deeper understanding and analysis of about 10 test cases and finally work on the precondition and post-condition criteria. Test environment for conducting the tests A test should always be performed on a particular place or area known as a test environment for the establishment of test results. A test environment can simply be defined as a setup consisting of both the hardware and software that aid the testing individuals in executing the test cases. For that reason, the environment enables the testers to apply network configurations, the hardware and software in their quest to conduct tests. However, in order to give room for proper testing and better results, the configuration should be done in respect to the application that is being tested. For that reason, there are important areas that will be considered for setup in the test environment. To begin with, a database server should be available for purposes of confirmation. The server should be available to ensure that the records that are saved in the database respond effectively in case any of them is invoked. Failure to avail a database server would mean poor functioning and incorrect results would be obtained from the tests. Also, test data should be available despite it being not the real information of the users, testers or students in Marymount University. The availability of the data will help to increase confidence in whoever is observing the tests or keeping track of the process. The data on the 5 other hand will enable the tester to fill all the gaps, covering the steps that had been set up initially. In addition to that, a browser is a necessity for carrying out the test. It will help to provide a gateway to the main platform where most of the activities will take place. Therefore, a browser will be chosen from the list of the most powerful ones available in the universe today. In other words, the OrgSync platform will be embedded in one of the browsers that will be put in place. Hence, the effectiveness of the browser will ensure that the process is fast, efficient and concise as well. Besides, a network should be fully set up to boost the testing process. In other words, configuration of a stronger and high frequency network will enable some critical processes to respond to the requirements of the test. Processes like the Login will automatically respond negatively in any case where a network configuration is neglected. For that reason, the bases of some of the operations in the testing process are locked in the availability of a fully set network. The operating system in the client side is another important factor that will be considered while setting up the testing environment. It is one of the most critical aspects that should not be under looked due to its contribution in the process. In short, the client-side operating system provides the tester with all the necessary requirements including the machinery, the computing tools, and other important tools for use. The computer, interfaces and all other computing tools that are deemed indispensable in actualizing the testing process are all availed in this area or base. Finally, the server-side operating system is a major requirement while setting up an ideal environment for the testing process. The server will be of maximum functionality because it should respond to all the requirements of the user or rather the tester. In other words, the 6 commands that will be invoked in the client-side operating system will be sent directly to the server side. From that point, a suitable response will be expected to come from the server. The tester will keep in mind the server requirements to avoid more complications, which would lead to unexpected results or contaminated output. Types of software tests and their purpose There are many software tests that are currently known to many testers in the field of science, especially the software lovers. For that reason, a tester may choose to use the type that he or she is conversant with for maximum functionality. Software testing can be referred to as the due process of evaluating the full functionality of an application with the aim of finding out whether or not it met the initial requirements. It also focuses in identifying any defects and ensuring that the developed software is error free for purposes of producing quality products. Therefore, the report will be considering exploring two types of software tests that are often considered to be more basic. The first type is the functional testing and the second one is the nonfunctional testing. First, the report will take an insight on the first type, that is the functional software testing. In some instances, it is referred to as black box kind of software testing. It mainly focuses on finding out whether the application is functioning as expected, and if the system is behaving properly. For that reason, its main focus is on the functionality part and not the tools that were used to build the application. That aside, it defines all the steps that users of the system should take in their quest to confirm the effectiveness of the system. Functional testing is normally subdivided into two parts, considering the perspective that it is expected to produce. The first technique that the testing is always carried out is based on the requirements. At this point of testing, a basis should be formed for other tests in terms of the specifications in functionality. It should provide a guideline for other tests that might be carried out in the future. The second technique is the testing that is carried out basically basing on 7 business scenarios. It helps to provide an insight on how effective the system will be when introduced to a business environment, in its fight for the market share. On the other hand, nonfunctional testing focuses on carrying out the tests on the requirements that are rendered nonfunctional. It may include carrying out tests for the security, volume and at times for the recovery. Therefore, the nonfunctional testing will be objected at ensuring that the total time taken by the application to respond is quicker, in comparison with the condition in the business. As a result, the load time should not be any longer, just as the sustainability should be stable at the instance of the ultimate load.
