Introduction
Waste water is a term used to refer to contaminated water that is no longer needed or
suitable for human use as well as consumption. Waste water treatment, on the other hand, is a
term used to refer to the process of converting waste water into water that can be
discharged/released back into the environment. Waste water is in most cases a product of
several human activities that includes laundry work, bathing as well as using the toilet. Rain
water run off is also classified under the waste water category (Rinkesh, 2019). Waste water
is heavily contaminated with contaminants such as chemicals, bacteria as well as other toxic
substances. Waste water treatment aims at minimizing the concentration of contaminants in
the water to safe levels that will make the water good enough to be released back to the
environment.
Two types of waste water treatment exists, namely physical or chemical treatment
plants as well as biological wastewater treatment plants. In the case of biological waste water
treatment plants, bacteria as well as other biological matters are used to help in. They are
breaking down the waste matter. Physical waste water plants, on the other hand, makes use of
chemical reactions as well as other physical processes to purify waste water. Waste water
