The main problem with performance appraisal programs is supervisory bias when making judgments. How can a company attempt to identify and reduce appraisal bias?

Rater Bias - Being the main source of appraisal bias, a company should choose people who are objective driven rather than a subjective rater.

Rater accountability - The respective rater should be held accountable for any scoring made by reviewing their ratings and demanding an explanations for the scores

Appraisal Policies -  Putting in place performance appraisal policies that define and control the appraisal process
