Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Appraisal Bias can be identified and reduced by:

1. Introducing a result oriented measurement scheme; This is the kind of program whereby the employees are ranked according to the measurable result they have been able to produce. By this results then the management can decide on who has made it.

2. Using Different officers to carry the exercise:  Trusting One officer to supervise and choose an employee from a team may not be appropriate since one may desire to fulfil their personal intrests rather than meeting the needs of the Organization. Having many supervisory officers carry out activities  indipendently and then evaluating their general choices can reduce Bias. This can be done by determining the coefficient of correlation between their results.

3. Trainings: When people don't know the importance of anything, they tend to misuse it. Training the officers on  the importance of the appraisal exercises can help reduce bias.
