Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Eye contact and its effects on others has been extensively studied. Too little  can make you appear uneasy, unprepared, and insincere. In its analysis of patients’ complaints, for example, one large county hospital found, that 9-out-of-10 letters included mention of poor doctor-patient eye contact; a failure which was generally interpreted as “lack of caring

“Just the right” amount of eye contact – the amount that produces a feeling of mutual likability and trustworthiness – will vary with situations, settings, personality types, gender and cultural differences. As a general rule, though, direct eye contact ranging from 30% to 60% of the time during a conversation – more when you are listening, less when you are speaking – should make for a comfortable productive atmosphere..

As for smilling .Having verified the financial benefits of customer service smiles, scientists have tried to explain the underlying reason why these displays of happiness actually improve workplace transactions. It is due to “primitive emotional contagion,” a non-conscious process in which moods are transferred from one person to another on the wings of mimicry. In other words, if we encounter someone smiling at us, we unthinkingly smile back and then our feelings soon follow suit. Why not come back tomorrow for lunch, we think, It's really nice here.

The absence of smiling thaw can have the exact opposite effect.  Can trigger negative emotions or at least neutral and indifferent.

As for the factors for smiling its mainly poor work invorement which can be due to many reasons such as bad supervisors or intense work demands or poor pay.

Lack of eye contact can be due lack of caring  , being unprepared or not up to task you where assigned and you know that the product or work you are about to do lacks the appropriate quality and thus can be a sign of guilt !

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.

Tutor went the extra mile to help me with this essay. Citations were a bit shaky but I appreciated how well he handled APA styles and how ok he was to change them even though I didnt specify. Got a B+ which is believable and acceptable.
