Running head: Is global warming myth or fact?
IS GLOBAL WARMING MYTH OR FACT?

Is global warming myth or fact?
In 1980’s, certain changes in the temperature has been observed on a global scale, climate
warming and high-rise in temperature affected the atmosphere. This also results in the higher
concentration of green house gas due to human activities like burning of fuels and fossils. It
has been seen that carbon dioxide is harming the atmosphere and humans mostly. Reckless
use of fossil fuels by human’s result in the unmanageable side affects to the planet. The
concept of global warming is built mainly on three kinds of argument. This includes
analysing the air temperature on surface of atmosphere, amount of carbon dioxide and
numerical simulations. Global warming is caused by urbanization in the past years.
It is observed that global warming is caused due to urbanization and other changes in the
surface of land like deforestation, not greenhouse gas. This is considered as a myth. Whereas,
the fact lies in the reasons like dense human settlements, sunlight, urban areas replacing trees.
Another fact is that temperatures rose over the oceans, lands and this brought changes in the
land surfaces but this is not the primary reason of global warming (Blank, 2015).
Another myth that is considered for global warming is the lack of proper evidences, more
technological involvement is necessary to solve the problems regarding global warming as
the environment is resilient and it needs proper resolutions. On the other hand, the fact is that
CO2 is of long lifetime and the emissions related to it will stay for a longer time even after
centuries. Delaying any kinds of necessary actions will make it difficult to make GHG
concentrations in control (Mishra & Roy, 2015).
Climate model consists of many flaws, the past climate changes have not been analysed
properly, which results in improper prediction of global warming. However, the fact is that
computer models are considered as the integral part of climate science. Proper actions can be
taken by the use of mathematical representations. Art statistical techniques are used to
identify the changes in the climatic conditions.

Is global warming myth or fact?
Major myth is considered behind global warming, is the science related to global warming. It
is very uncertain and it is difficult to draw any conclusions for this reason (Philander, 2018).
Henceforth, based on the factors it can be said that different critics have argued on the fact
that lays in inherent piece of scientific knowledge. Human produced GHG’s are the dominant
factor contributing to the warming. Natural factors alone cannot define the warming observed
over last 50 years.
From the above analysis, it is acquired that global warming is a fiction. Past data presents that
global warming is caused by humans and is happening. Certain arguments have been made
between the critics that creates barrier to conclude whether the global warming is myth or a
fact. From the climatic change data of UAE, it is observed that it plays an important role in
the world’s economic growth related to energy suppliers. This affected the country with
maximum rate of global warming which is vulnerable to the normal human lives or species.

Euthanasia Should Be Allowed
During the last 100 years, medicine has advanced incredibly; humanity has learned to treat diseases
which have killed thousands of people throughout centuries. However, there still exist many
sicknesses which not only cannot be cured for now, but also cause incredible suffering to people
who have them. Patients with such diseases might want to ask for euthanasia, as life can be torture
for them. However, societies and laws of different countries prohibit euthanasia as something
immoral and illegal – which is not necessarily true. Terminally sick people who are in extreme pain or
suffering should be granted the right to euthanasia.
Often, a patient’s life is much worse than death. There are numerous diseases that modern medicine
cannot cure, and which cause severe pain and suffering to patients. For example, the “locked in”
syndrome: people who have it cannot move a single muscle. One of such sufferers, Tony Nicklinson,
in 2010 and 2012 was denied his right to die by the British High Court. Unable to commit suicide
himself and also unable to ask anyone to help him end his life (sufferers of the “locked in” syndrome
cannot move even their tongue or eyeballs), Tony starved himself to death. The number of patients
suffering from this and other diseases, who have no other way to stop their suffering, is
uncountable, but they are doomed to live. Is it not unfair that they are not allowed to end this
suffering?
The opponents of euthanasia claim that helping a person to die is wrong, because one can never
know when the cure for a terminal disease will be invented, or when recovery will occur; thus, claim
the opponents, euthanasia shortens life spans of patients. However, according to statistics, in 86% of
the cases, euthanasia shortened a patient’s life no more than one week – usually, just a couple of
hours. Patients ask for euthanasia when their chances for recovery are nearly impossible; besides,
the last days of a patient’s life are usually full of agony and excruciating pain, and euthanasia is the
only way to stop it.
In addition, it should be mentioned that sustaining life in a terminally ill body is cruel. As it has been
mentioned, terminal diseases are usually accompanied by unbearable pain and suffering. At the
same time, there is no premise to believe that the cure for such diseases as the “locked in”
syndrome or brain cancer will be invented in the nearest future. At the same time, sometimes it is
possible to keep patients alive for months and years, which means that they will suffer throughout
this period of time. Is it not similar to torture? Assurances and promises that there will be a cure
someday do not deny the fact that doctors (and relatives of an ill person) consciously keep a patient
in pain and humiliation for an undetermined period of time. Doing this violates a number of
individual’s rights, and should not be tolerated (IFR).
As we can see, in some cases, euthanasia is justified. There exist diseases which cause severe
suffering; sometimes, a patient might try to commit suicide only to end this suffering; life for such
patients is worse than death. Euthanasia is not literally killing; it is more like bringing a patient’s
inevitable death closer – according to the statistics, patients usually ask for euthanasia a maximum
of one week before they would die. In addition, keeping a person alive against their will and making
him or her withstand pain and suffering is not different from torture, and thus should not be
allowed: if a patient wants to die, and their condition is truly hopeless, relatives, doctors, and law
should not prevent them from doing so.

x Argumentative Essay: Attempt 1
Write a well-organised, well-argued 5-7 paragraph
essay (400-600 words) on an argumentative
(controversial) topic of your choice; argue for one side
or the other. Your essay must include an introduction
(with a clear thesis statement), a body which provides
adequate evidence to support your argument, and a
conclusion.
In your essay, you have to demonstrate your critical
thinking skills that you have learned in the course.
