identify the make and model of one (1) laser printer and one (1) inkjet printer that are similarly priced. Evaluate the quality of each in terms of print speed (i.e., pages per minute), resolution (i.e., dots per inch), memory, color capability, duplex printing capability, cartridge price, cartridge printing capacity, and longevity. Next, recommend the printer that would be the best suited for a home environment and the printer that would be the best suited for a business environment.

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

It appears that Inkjet printers are more cheaper compared to laser printers.

LASERPRINTER: Try the Brother HL-L2300D Compact Personal Laser Printer from Walmart.  It is the cheapest laser printer I can find and it costs $109.07 before tax.

The Brother HL-L2300D is a reliable, affordable monochrome laser printer for personal or home office use. This desk-friendly, compact printer with an up to 250-sheet capacity tray connects with ease to your computer via the high-speed USB 2.0 interface and prints crisp black and white documents at up to 27ppm. Automatic duplex printing helps save paper.10

The Brother laser printer has Print Speed

Black: Up to 27 ppm

Print Resolution

Black: Up to 2400 x 600 dpi

Energy Star certified

INKJET PRINTER: choose the HP Officejet 4632 Inkjet e-All-in One printer.

This printer costs $87.21 on, it originally is $99.99

The print speed is 8.8 ppm (That is about 3 times slower than the laser printer)

The print resolution is up to 4800 x 1200 dpi

This printer can fax, scan, and copy multiple pages wireless capability.

You can print from your smartphone, laptop, tablet, or on the go.

The ISO print speed of HP inkjet printer is up to 8.8 ppm black text and 5.2 ppm in color.

The Brother printer has MORE ppm than the HP Officejet Inkjet printer.  Yet they both have the same rating of 4.5 stars on   We see the Brother laserprinter costs $109.07 compared to HP inkjet printer cost of $87.21

For personal use, I think the HP Officejet Inkjet printer is a better buy because it is cheaper and it has more functionality than the Brother printer.  Even though the HP inkjet printer is slower, I think it is more suitable for home and light office work.

For the business environment in a fast paced schedule, I would choose the Brother laser printer because of its fast printing speed and energy efficient capability.

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.

The HP Officejet 4632 e-All-in-One Printer is not the fastest printer on the block, but has a solid set of features for a budget home-office Multi-Function Printer, and good output quality.

The HP inkjet printer has a range of mobile printing features and has an auto-duplexer, so if those features are important to you, this HP inkjet printer is a better choice, despite its much slower speed. I would be concerned about its rate of ink consumption for color printing.

You could save on ink cost through enrollment in the HP Instant Ink program has the potential to reduce ink costs.

More on the Brother Laserprinter can be found at

Though the Brother laserprinter does not have fax, scan, and copy capabilities, it is very fast and handles a lot of printing jobs.  It has a way to save on energy and toner cartridge.
