The final step in any effort to create social change is to develop an action plan and implement it. Before you begin writing, select one of the problems you previously identified in your research. Using the problem you’ve selected, write an action plan for change using an APA format. Describe the community demographics (population, income, business climate, minority representation, political structure). Define the problem as you see it. Describe community resources (people, assets, and organizations) that can be used to facilitate change. Identify potential roadblocks to change. Who or what could prevent the proposed changes from becoming reality? Goals. What changes do you want to make? Be specific and address both long term and short term goals. What impact will these changes have on the community as a whole? Implementation. What do you want to do and how do you want to do it. This is a step by step description of the process that will produce the changes you proposed. It should also include a timeline for action and the people or groups responsible for each phase. Measurement. Describe how you will measure the progress of your plan. (Refer to the operational definitions in Section II.) Alternatives. Briefly describe what you would recommend if this plan is unsuccessful. (In other words, what’s Plan B if this fails?)
