NOHS ETHICAL STANDARDS FOR HUMAN SERVICES PROFESSIONALS
NOHS (2015) Ethical Standards for Human Services Professionals impose
responsibilities on their members which may be expressly or implicitly indicated in the standard.
The ethical standards and values exist for all professions such as human service professional and
lawyers to uphold integrity and professionalism with respect to the services provided to the
clientele of each profession.
The Values Inherent In the Human Services Profession
The values inherent in the human service profession include professionalism, integrity,
maintaining a high level of privacy and confidentiality, and providing multicultural services.
The profession is also required to demonstrate a positive attitude towards service to the public
and community to resolve and address their plight. They must be champions of social justice and
fight any form of oppression and discrimination (NOHS, 2015). In addition, human health
service professional must demonstrate the ability to create a positive human relationship with
their clients and show value to the dignity and worth of their clients. They must provide service
with respect and compassion.
