Description

For this review, students will read The Apostles’ Creed for Today by Justo Gonzalez and write a response. The first half of the paper needs to provide a summary of the book by highlighting its key themes and insights. The second half of the paper will be a more personal, reflective response. Students should engage these questions:

  • What did you find most helpful/important about this book?
  • How was the book’s content similar/dissimilar to what you previously have been taught about the topics it covers?
  • What questions did it raise for you?

How to do well on essay #1:

  • Write at least 800 words, double-space your paper, use 1-inch margins, and submit it as a Word document.
  • Summarize the book as a whole, rather than just one or two sections.
  • Make sure that roughly half of the paper is devoted to summary and the other half is devoted to personal engagement/reflection.
  • Properly punctuate and cite all quotations.
  • Use proper grammar and punctuation.
