Introduction
The topic that I am going to discuss is about "Development of Manufacture of Electric
Vehicles". Automobiles do bring convenience to people, but they also cause a series of problems
at the same time. The car exhausts caused the greenhouse effect, also made the ozone layer
destructed and so on. With the improvement of living standards, human beings are increasingly
demanding the living environment, and the call for reducing the exhaust emissions of
automobiles is also increasing day by day.
An electric vehicle is a brand new and alternative energy source automobile that uses
electric motors and motor controllers for propulsion, instead of common propulsion ways such as
the internal combustion engine. Electricity could be utilized as a fuel to power battery electric
cars. It stores electricity in an energy storage device as the battery system. The electricity powers
the wheels of cars by an electric motor ("Navigant Research", 2015).
Electric cars have limited energy storage capacity, which should be replenished via
charging into an electrical source. The self-sufficiency rate of US oil in the world's largest
consumer of automobiles is only 33%, the self-sufficiency rate of Japan, Germany, France and
Italy is even below 10%. Under the current uncertain political and economic structure of the
world, ensuring the security of oil supply has become a difficult problem that governments must
solve and reducing oil dependence has been an inevitable choice.
For this, a huge number of engineers are constantly striving to find approaches to reduce
fuel consumption, seek alternative fuels and developed new vehicles that use little or no gasoline.
More and more people have realized that various types of electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles

are solutions for clean energy source, and the automotive industry around the world is working
hard and investing huge amounts of money and manpower. In fact, electric cars are not novel and
fresh. It was popular during 1899-1900. Its sales far exceeded gasoline vehicles at that time, but
they were so expensive at once as a kind of luxury of the upper class.
In 1908, however, Ford’s production— the gasoline...
