1. Summaries of the following four fact sheets retrieved from
http://www.pewresearch.org/topics/state-of-the-news-media/
a. Digital news
Only one in ten adults is not watching digital news which indicates a 93% usage of this
platform to access information. However, the use of apps in both iOS and Android has
reduced in the past years. Digital-native news outlets are using social media to reach
audiences with all of them having an account in at least one of the social media
platforms. Additionally, digital-native news outlets are also offering newsletters; podcasts

advertisement compared to desktop advertise despite each having a reported growth in
2017. Economic future indicates further expansion of digital news as digital divide
reduces and as more digital news outlet enter the market ("State of the News Media",
2018).
b. Hispanic and African American news
The morning, early evening and late night viewership for both Hispanic and African
American news declined in 2017. General viewership of large players such as Univision
and Telemundo declined which can be attributed to huge drops in viewership of affiliate
stations. Hispanic newspapers circulated at a steady rate in 2017 despite individual
circulations declining. Black-oriented newspapers have in the last decades been having
lower circulations despite being free with only 1% of each paper’s circulation being paid.
Predictions are that this news will need to re-strategize and relook at their content and
