We have

3x+y/4 =3/.4 ---eqn(1)

-x/2 +y/3 =8 ..eqn(2)

Solving by elimination

6*eqn2 +eqn1 ,eliminate x

y/4 +6*y/3 =3/4 +6*8

 y/4 +2y =3/4+48

Combine the numerator

(8y+y)/4 =195/4

9y=195

y=195/9 =65/3

and x=-14/9

x=-14/9 and y=65/3(answer)
