Musab Al Bahri Phillip Gonsher ENT 326 April 9th, 2019 Entrepreneur Interview The entrepreneur I met for this class named Emilie and she is the owner of Uziri closet. Uziri closet is an online store that retails clothing and accessories for men and women. Emilie started her business from high school, and she is originally from Cameroon. When I asked Emilie how she started her business she said that she was not sure what business she should start after high school but at the same time she wanted to be her own boss and she did not want to work for a long day for a small amount of money. Emilie asked her parents for a loan and they gave her about $5000. This loan allowed her to buy African accessories, clothes, shoes, and scarves and sell them on her online store. Emilie gave a big credit to her Instagram account which allowed her store to become famous because of her thousands followers. She also stated that social media made it easy for people like Emilie to reach a wider customer segment. At this moment, Emilie is handling all tasks by herself (sales & marketing) but she said that if the business started getting high sales like it was during summer time, she should hire an assistant to help her manage her business. Most Emilie’s customers are African who are in U.S., Canada, and in Europe. She is using DHL and Post Office for shipping and you can choose the shipping method you would like to use. Also, she is offering a free shipping on all U.S. orders. Within a short time, Emilie hopes to follow in other retail stores footsteps by opening a physical store in Kansas City so she can expand more and more. About the challenge she faced, Emilie said that how to a good quality product with a reasonable price. During the interview, she asked a couple of questions about my venture. I shared with her that my idea is the “Glass Toaster”. I explained the difference between this product and a regular toaster, stating that the “Glass Toaster” allows the individual to monitor the situation, avoid over toasting the bread for example, and clean up visible crumbs around the toaster. She was very interested in the product and really liked the idea and promised to order one as soon as it is available in the market. The reason why she liked the idea is that in many occasions, she burned her toasted bread while multitasking. Her first advice was not to listen to people who would discourage me in this entrepreneurial journey. She advised me to do my research in the market and see if there are not similar products already in the market. She also suggested that my estimated price was too low to begin with. As long as there is quality in the product, customers are willing to pay a reasonable price for that product. The interviewed went well overall and made me more comfortable about starting my business despite the nervousness I experienced when I think about it.

Entrepreneur Interview

Emilie, the owner of Uziri closet, is the first entrepreneur I came across at the start of this
class. Uziri closet deals in men and women accessories and clothes online. She started her
business since high school back in her native home, Cameroon. She was not aware rather sure
about the business she wanted to start after her high school when I inquired to know how she
came up with the idea of Uziri stores. However, she was sure about one thing in her life; she
wanted to be self-employed. She was not okay with working for somebody and spend...
