But it is given that volume = $3\pi x^3\: \: cubic\: \: units$

Therefore,

$\\ \frac{1}{3}\pi r^2x=3\pi x^3\\ \\ \pi r^2x=9\pi x^3\\ \\ r^2=\frac{9\pi x^3}{\pi x}\\ \\ r^2=9x^2\\ \\ r=\sqrt{9x^2}\\ \\ r=3x\: \: units$

So radius of the cone's base = $3x\: \: units$
