Evolution and intensification of Islamic terror

Islamic terrorism is defined as any terrorist act, set of acts and campaigns committed by
groups and individuals who confess Islamic objectives and motivations that drive them towards
achieving such goals (Shaffer, 2016). The main motivation of Islamic terrorism has always come
from the idea of Islamic supremacy which is recorded as “Islam is exalted and nothing is exalted
above Islam. There has been a lot of Islam terrorist attack but all these can be traced back to the
year 1970 where it all began. From this analysis modern terrorist can be analyzed and how it has
evolved through time detected (Shaffer, 2016).

In the beginning of the 1970s decade, the terrorist movements only began as nationalist
movements that were against colonial groups. Most of them were only developed to
revolutionary movements. Most of their views were aimed at achieving political goals. No one
would think that they were the first phase of modern international Islamic terrorism. The form of
terrorism then was only focused on material damage. The main lessons that directed these efforts
existed from guerilla conflicts that occurred everywhere else. The groups increased number of
urban incidents while minimizing as possible killing of individuals. Some of the Islamic groups
then include; popular front for the liberation of Palestine (PELP) (Shaffer, 2016).
