2000 Presidential election
United nation presidential election on November 7th in the year 2000 was the 54th presidential
election. The poll was between republican and democrat. 2000 presidential election is
considered controversial because of the separate announcement of both the candidates as
winners of the election. Television network pronounced vice president Al Gore as the, but later
the state's elections were considered too close to call, which led to the same television network
declaring Texas governor George Bush as the winner of the election. The poll was controversial
in that 5-4 votes were along the partisan lines (Jr., 2014). The initial election results revealed
that Gore won the popular votes, but none of the candidates had managed to gather the 270
electoral votes that are required to win the presidential elections. The results from the state of
Florida were too close that they demanded a recount. Supreme Court ruled in favor of George
Bush with a 5-4 vote. 2000 presidential election were the closest in the whole history of the
United States and the first ever to be decided by the Supreme Court. The final results were not

President Bill Clinton come to power as the 42nd president of the United States in the year
1993, and he left power in the year 2001. The1993 reconciliation act led to the rise of taxes,
and the budget was set for future surpluses. Clinton was given the mandate to provide universal

health care to the United States citizens. Clinton provided military intervention specifically in
Somali in full scale by releasing 25,000 united nation soldiers to join the unified nation
peacekeeping mission.
President George Bush was the most effective president because he was able to stop stockpiling
of weapons by Iraq because it prevented imminent mass destruction. Although he had some
hiccups, the overall performance of Bush was excellent.
