Description
To prepare for this Application Assignment:
- Select two of the study abstracts. (document attached)
To complete the Application Assignment, analyze the articles from different perspectives. With the two articles in mind, use the attached Epidemiologic Study Worksheet to answer the following questions. The final worksheet should be 2–3 pages in length.
- What did the researchers want the study to determine?
- What health condition(s) did the researchers study?
- What factors did the researchers investigate to determine an association with the outcome listed above? There may be more than one.
- Who did the researchers study? How many?
- What type of epidemiological study design (observational or experimental) does the study describe? Why?
- What type(s) or method(s) were used to collect the data for the study?
- What were the results of the study? What were the conclusions of the researchers?

Article Title and Authors
Title: Cross sectional study of effects of drinking green tea on cardiovascular and liver
diseases. Authors: Imai, K., & Nakachi, K
Title: Green tea and black tea consumption in relation to colorectal cancer risk: the
Singapore Chinese Health Study. Authors: Sun, C., Yuan, J., Koh, W., Lee, H., & Yu, M.
2)
Research Question (What did the researchers want the study to determine?)
What is the effect of consumption of green tea on Cardiovascular and liver
diseases? The research is intended to establish the relationship between the use of green
tea and cardiovascular and liver diseases (Imai & Nakachi, 1995). It will build on
whether it is preventive or in compromises one at the expense of the other diseases. The
researcher also wanted to determine the timespan that it took for the effects of the green
tea to be realized in the body.
What are the effect of black and green tea and black tea on the risk of colorectal
cancer? The researchers intended to establish the impact of the green tea and the black tea
consumption on the threat to colorectal cancer (Sun, Yuan, Koh, Lee, & Yu, 2007). It
was designed to determine whether it increases the risk to human beings to contract
colorectal cancer. The researcher also wanted to establish whether the presence of milk in
the tea was a risk to the increment of chances to contract the colorectal risk.
