With the age of rapidly growing technology, fake news has become a global disaster as
far as information is of concern. It is not uncommon to bump to multiple links to misleading
information anytime one opens his or her browser. Most unfortunate, however, is the inability of
most users to recognize the difference between fake news and credible news due to lack of
knowledge of doing such or simply ignorance. In particular, the digital world seems to care less
or more unforgiving to various elements of our society (may it be brands and personalities) with
respect to defamation and tarnishing of their reputations which by most circumstances the lie
prevails than the truth. The political dimension in the recent United States general election
particularly Donald Trump is an enormous example that has suffered the demeaning effects of
fake news. Given this situation, the big question lies on how fake news can be put under control
to minimize their societal misinformation effects. As such, the article, ‘fake news is a real
problem. Here’s how students can solve it’ by John Spenser seems to outline a better approach
towards control of fake news menace relative to other articles titled ‘why stopping fake news is
so hard’ by Kalev Leetaru and ‘want to stop fake news? Pay for the real thing’ by David Chavern
due to the greater logic and broader perspective it presents in solving the problem.

To begin with, the article by Kaley Leetaru offers a very informative but yet critical
perspective on the possible methodologies of regulating the negative impacts of fake news in our
society. Leetaru in his articles asserts that although the impacts of fake news can be managed, it
is a difficult affair that coils around complexities. According to the author, classification,
labeling, and automatic detection of fake news make up some of the possible strategies that can
