Ten Steps to Successful Fat Loss. Nancy Clark nutrition book she categorize the ten steps in order from the most important step (#1) to the least important step (#10). Then discuss and justify your order of the steps. Don't describe each step, tell us why you put the steps in that order. Your discussion must be more than 500 words long. If I ranked the order of importance of these fat loss steps, they would be:

1.) Schedule exercise appointments.

2.) Sleep right.

3.) Make a realistic eating plan.

4.) Eat your favorite food.

5.) Avoid temptations

6.) Think fit and healthy.

7.) Keep a list of activities unrelated to eating.

8.) Start your day with more calories, eat more for breakfast, eat less for dinner.

9.) Write down what you eat.

10.) Eat slow.

I believe if you want to lose fat, you need to have some exercise in your life style.  Exercise can turn on your calorie burner and build the muscle mass needed to burn that extra fat.  Therefore, exercise is the number one on the list. Doing any kind of exercise will burn some calories and make you less hungry.

If you sleep more, you burn more fat than during waking hours.  The fat is used for growth and building protein from the energy released from fat.  Sleep is also powerful because it makes you less hungry.

Be realistic about the eating plan, you have to make sure it works if you want to be able to carry the plan through. If it does not work, you lose yourself to temptations and binge eat.

Eat your favorite food because if you do not, then you will lose control and binge eat.

Avoiding temptations is the fifth most important, however it is dependent on your mood and your control of the fitness plan.  If you are in a bad mood, either from lack of sleep, lack of exercise, lack of favorite food, or an unrealistic eating plan, you could lose control and give in to temptations.

Thinking fit and healthy is the sixth important in the list.  Your attitude will determine if you can succeed.

Also keeping a list of activities unrelated to food can help you keep your mind off of temptations.

Eating more calories when you wake up is good for you because it gets your metabolism started and can get your body to burn more calories.  

The least important in the list are writing down what you eat (9th on the list) and eating slow (last on the list).  Even if you do write down what you eat, that cannot control your mood.  But it can make you feel guilty if you eat wrong.  So it  is important to at least recall what you ate so that you are sticking with your eating plan.
