Description
Solve the following system of equations
y - x = -1
12x² - 16x -y = -5
If more than one solution need all
Explanation & Answer
hello
y - x = -1
12x² - 16x -y = -5
y - x = -1
y = -1+x
substitute y = -1+x in 12x² - 16x -y = -5
12x² - 16x -( -1+x) = -5
12x² - 17x +6 = 0
(3x−2)(4x−3) = 0
x =2/3 or x = 3/4
when x = 2/3
y - x = -1
y- 2/3 = -1
y = -1 +2/3
y= -1/3
when x = 3/4 y - x = -1 y- 3/4 = -1 y = -1 +3/4 y= -1/4 ANSWER IS x =2/3 and y= -1/3 x = 3/4 and y= -1/4
