Introduction
This paper will seek to analyze The Clash of Civilizations, The End of History and the Last Man,
The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism theories. The conclusion will
provide articulation of which of the theories best explains the history of the United States
between the Cold War and the present day.
The Clash of Civilizations
In his text, Huntington’s basically addresses the global politics structure post-Cold War world.
His major argument is based on how culture and cultural identity shape conflict patterns, coming
together and splitting of the international institution's post-Cold War world. After the cold war
came to an end, countries stopped identifying themselves through ideologies that they aligned
with. Indeed, they never had the chance to turn to their status, for example as a communist, to
identify themselves and their status within the international order. Rather, the countries began to
associate themselves on cultural identity (Huntingdon, 1992). This associate was a significant
move that allowed countries to determine their status. States began coming together. The various
section identified in the text defines a critical concern on cultural identity. Based on the first part,
Huntington articulates that global politics were more on multipolar and multicivilizational. This
simply meant that the world was comprised of dissimilar powers as well as civilizations which
