Immigration has shaped America since the first arrivals nearly 400 years ago. Beyond
America being such a powerful and dynamic force, immigrants leave their home countries for
reasons that others could not understand unless they have lived in the same conditions.
Immigration has made a huge contribution to the social, economic, and political processes of
what makes America today. Immigration is the foundation in which the United States has been
built on. Santos was young when he decided to leave his home country of Mexico and to travel
into the United States.
When Santos decided to leave his country, he knew something better awaited him has
given him and his family greater advances to live healthier and happier lives. It wasn’t about the
money though, it was more about building a foundation that would enable his family to put food
on the table without any stressors, it was about going to bed at night and not feeling guilty
because his mother couldn’t eat accept the scraps that were left from the plates of others. Of
course, for this to happen, it had to revolve around money, but it wasn’t for pleasures as others
