Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Motivation can be observed or experienced as a combination of focus and exertion towards specific outcomes. It is goal-oriented, arising from a quality of willfulness and desire (for a positive result) or in the negative case, based in aversion and avoidance of undesirable or threatening prospects.

Intrinsic and extrinsic are the two types of motivation.Intrinsic motivation is when you want to do something. Extrinsic motivation is when somebody else tries to make you do something. For example:Consider the case of running .When you are running you are running because of your interest ,it is a case of intrinsic motivation. But when you running  for getting external rewards or to avoid negative consequences,it is an extrinsic motivation.

Various research studies have been done regarding this and it has been confirmed that intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is closely related to achievement. It has been concluded that working on a task for intrinsic reasons in not only more enjoyable, but also relates positively to learning, achievement and perceptions of competence. As compared to extrinsic motivation ,intrinsic motivation is more pronounced in enhancing learning and achievement.
