Introduction Project management is a professional discipline with a body of knowledge, training track, and accredited certifications. Project managers are tasked with delivering expected benefits and value to their employers through effective planning, organization, and risk mitigation. They align expected results to an organization's key initiatives. Health information management (HIM) and project management employ some of the same principles and skills. Project managers must have skills in relationship management, document management, and process acumen, which are all requirements of an HIM director.
