Cognitive dissonance refers to a psychological aspect of
discomfort that is experienced by people when one holds two conflicting beliefs.
For example people smoke and yet they know that smoking causes cancer. Therefore,
this theory explains that people tend to have inner drive to hold unto our
beliefs and attitudes in harmony and avoid dissonance
