Write an inequality function.

An online retailer currently offers a %40 discount on cameras.Write a function relating a camera's purchase price, y, to the retail price, x. Give the domain of this function. Graph the function.

Please help me understand this problem. I was thinking about the equation y>=x-x.40 but I don't know how I would graph that so I don't think that's right. Please help.

A 40% discount means that the buyer will pay 60% of the price meaning     x >  y > 0.6 x  

I also put x in the upper limit because if i dont then there a change that the purchasing price will be higher than the original price . 

By the way x : original price 

                   y : purchasing price 

At first i thought the domain would be all numbers , x belogns (-oo,+oo) but then i figured that negative x means negative price for the camera which in turn means that the seller will pay money to the buyer to buy the camera which doesnt make any sense . So we need to exclude negative numbers from the domain of the function and zero (that would mean that the seller sold the camera for free) . Thus the domain will be x belongs to (0,+oo)

P.S i dont understant why the problem  ll ask you to use an inequality function  but anyhow here is the graph of that function .( i think you just need the line y = 0.6x thow for this problem) 


where x axis is ofcourse the original price and y is the purchasing price  . Because you have an inequality that means that the purchasing price will be in the red part not just the line y = 0.6 x
